Nairobi-based Utopia African Expeditions specializes in adventure travel packages

Nairobi-based Utopia African Expeditions is enabling adventurous sorts to stand on the very top of Africa.

The company offers packages not only in Kenya but also sends people on gorilla treks in Rwanda and also features Tanzania, where vacation options include climbing Kilimanjaro, at 5895 metres, Africa’s highest peak.

“The Kilimanjaro trek needs good planning and exercise before commencing to climb,” notes Utopia African Expeditions Patrick Oketch.

Kilimanjaro doesn’t involve scaling rockfaces but thin air near the summit can make it challenging.

Utopia African Expeditions provides trekkers with a guide and porters who carry tents, food and other items on a journey that lasts around 5  to 7 days, depending on the route chosen.

Oketch notes that Kenya,  Tanzania and Rwanda are best known for wildlife viewing, with Kenya credited with being the home of the safari. He says his homeland’s largely having good weather throughout the year and “The Equator passing through Kenya gives us great opportunities to have unique animals which are found above the Equator, like reticulated giraffes, the Somalia ostrich, the baisa oryx and various unique birds.”

Kenya is considered the home of the Big Five – five animals those who go on safari are eager to see – and hundreds of bird species Tourists can also see the Great Migration which normally happens from mid-July to September, which sees some 1.2 million wildebeests and zebras traveling between Kenya and Tanzania.

Tourists are generally eager to see the likes of lions, elephants and giraffes on Kenya vacations but Oketch notes his country has many other creatures that aren’t generally well known but are intriguing

“We have many varieties of animals as opposed to the Big Five,” he reports. “We have unique black leopards in Laikipia, lovely giraffes, cheetahs, gazelles and much more. Not forgetting the white sparkling beaches of  the coast, like Diani Beach.”

Kenya tourism authorities are also eager to familiarize Tourists with Kenyan culture and Oketch notes his company has a children’s center where visitors can mentor youngsters for 2 or 3 days before beginning or after their safaris. The centre is in the western part of the country, Kisumu.

Oketch adds that wildlife viewing in Tanzania is similar to that in Kenya, with “both great places to visit.”

Oketch continues that the Rwandan gorilla treks are one of the most popular trips Utopia African Expeditions has and the number of tourists allowed to see the large primates is strictly limited, helping ensure guests have a “fabulous time” Other wildlife adventures are available in the park that’s home to the gorillas

“I would like to appeal to the Canadian travel fraternity to join hands in supporting us, from FIT, honeymooners, luxury travel, mid-size groups. We will be happy to take care of your guests.”

Part of Utopia African Expeditions’ profits are channeled through its Gifted Hands Charity foundation giftedhandscharity.org which supports its Fruit of God orphanage centre.
