What inspired you to pursue a path in travel, tourism, or hospitality?
I was inspired by my experiences working in customer service and volunteering, where I saw how meaningful interactions can impact people’s experiences. Working at places like TableRock Welcome Centre and volunteering at events showed me how much I enjoy helping others. I also love the idea of creating memorable experiences for people. That’s what led me to pursue travel and tourism.
What excites you most about the future of this industry?
What excites me most is how the industry is constantly evolving, especially with younger travellers and digital trends. Social media and new travel styles are changing how people explore the world. I find it exciting that we have to keep adapting and thinking creatively. It makes the industry dynamic and full of opportunities.
What’s one experience that has shaped who you are today?
One experience that shaped me was my co-op placement working with students with special needs. It taught me patience, empathy, and how to communicate with different individuals. Those skills are very important in hospitality and tourism. It helped me become more understanding and adaptable.
How do you hope to make an impact through your career?
I hope to create meaningful and enjoyable travel experiences for people. I want to help travelers feel confident and excited about exploring new destinations. I also want to build strong relationships with clients. My goal is to make travel more accessible and memorable.
Why do you believe travel has the power to change lives or communities?
Travel exposes people to different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. It helps individuals grow and become more open-minded. At the same time, it supports local communities through tourism. This creates both personal and economic impact.
What has been your most memorable travel or hospitality experience so far?
One of my most memorable experiences was working as an ambassador at the Welcome Centre. I had the opportunity to interact with visitors, answer questions, and help them feel welcomed in the destination. It allowed me to represent the area and create a positive first impression for guests. This experience showed me hope to provide friendly and helpful service in tourism.
What destination is at the top of your travel bucket list right now and why?
At the top of my bucket list is Europe, especially countries like Italy and France. I’m interested in culture, history, and food. I’ve also seen a lot of travel content online that makes me want to experience it myself. It would be a meaningful and exciting trip.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received about travel or your career?
The best advice I’ve received is to stay open to new experiences and always keep learning. In this industry, things are always changing. Being adaptable is very important. This mindset helps me grow both personally and professionally.
As a Baxter Student Ambassador, what are you most excited to contribute or achieve this year?
I’m most excited to share my ideas and represent students who are passionate about tourism. I want to contribute fresh perspectives, especially about younger travellers. I also hope to learn from industry professionals and grow my network. Overall, I want to gain valuable experience that will help me in my future career.
