What inspired you to pursue a path in travel, tourism, or hospitality?

At the end of grade 12, I knew that I wanted my future career to be in tourism and hospitality. I love how it is not a traditional career choice, and often overlooked, which made me love it even more. It is so interesting that there is a world of opportunities globally in tourism and hospitality that is always changing and growing. 

What excites you most about the future of this industry?

What excites me about the future of this industry is that younger generations are travelling more than ever before. It is exciting to see whether solo travelling, with friends, or with tour groups, young people are being drawn to travel. I find it really fun to be able to be a part in creating these travel memories for young travellers my age.  

What’s one experience (in either travel, school, or work) that has shaped who you are today?

My previous manager was travelling to Budapest for business, and since I was there last summer, I recommended a hotel for them to stay at. The night prior to their arrival, I called the hotel reception to please leave a personal welcome note in their room for when they get there. The next day I got a happy message from her on what a kind surprise it was. I knew that doing small things like this brings so much joy for not just travellers but for me as well, and I cannot wait to find creative ways in the future to brighten guest’s day. 

How do you hope to make an impact through your career in travel, tourism, or hospitality? 

A quote that Marnie, one of my hospitality professors would repeatedly remind me is: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” by Maya Angelou. This is the impact I want to make. To leave guests with lasting impressions and make them have an experience that they won’t forget. This is exactly what gives me purpose!

Why do you believe travel has the power to change lives or communities?

People are truly at their happiest when they are travelling, which is why working in this industry is incredible. Travellers get to meet new people, learn new experiences, and create memories that they will remember forever. It is something that every human should experience, to be able to see a new part of the world around them. 

What has been your most memorable travel or hospitality experience so far?

My most memorable travel experience would be visiting Budapest, Hungary last summer in 2025. My family is from Hungary, and from even being able to speak the language, I never had much of a chance to explore the beautiful capital city. To see the vibrant city, especially lit up at night, was incredible.

What destination is at the top of your travel bucket list right now and why?

A travel experience that my sister and I have on our bucket list is to go inter-railing around Europe. We want to visit unique capital cities such as Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Lisbon.  

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received about travel or your career?

The best piece of advice was from Tatjana one of my hospitality professors, on the last day of school. She said “You’re going to go make adventures – go be amazing, but always remember to… Be good to people, be kind to people & treat others well. This is something I will remember and what the foundation of my career in hospitality will be based on. 

As a Baxter Student Ambassador, what are you most excited to contribute or achieve this year?

St. Clair College announced a new student opportunity for tourism, hospitality, and culinary students, to work abroad in a resort in Dubrovnik Croatia. I am beyond excited to be one of the couple of students going! I am really looking forward to being able to work in the resort environment in the hotel side for the summer. I hope to use all my education from St. Clair College, work experience, and as a Baxter Student Ambassador, be a good representative.
