Multilingual Peruvian tour company highlights Peru's treasures
Peruvian tour company Gloria Perou Voyages’ clients are easily able to explore Peru on tours that can have something of a Gallic twist.
The company, based in the northern Peruvian city of Carhuaz, is run by Peruvian Gloria La Puente and her husband Michel Burger.
La Puente is from northern Peru, while longtime Peru resident Michel is originally from France.
But the multilingual La Puente – who’s effortlessly at home in English – founded a company in 2001 that uses the French spelling for Peru and reports she’s lived in Europe, including having worked in the likes of Switzerland and Germany, and her company now works with French-, German- and English-speaking clients.
Gloria Perou Voyages’ ability to accommodate French-speaking clients enables it to easily host Quebecers, notes La Puente, who reports her company has participated in Montreal’s annual tourism show Salon des Voyages, and who professes her love for Montreal.
“We’re happy to work with people (who speak different languages),” she states. “There is no communication problem.”
Gloria Perou Voyages will tailor itineraries to client requests and has a number of options for customers, including Complete Peru, a 28-day journey that includes the likes of Cusco, Machu Picchu, the Colca Canyon and Puerto Maldonado.
Scenic Huascaran National Park is among the northern Peru locales Gloria Perou Voyages sends clients to.
La Puente says more tourists should work their way to northern Peru, usually bypassed by foreign visitors.
“They don’t come here because they don’t know about it,” she states. “It has treasures that nobody knows about.”
The region has numerous archeological sites that well pre-date those built by the famed Incas, among them Sipan, from which remarkably intricate gold work was found, and then featured on the cover of National Geographic.
The region’s Huascaran National Park is also home to towering Mount Huascaran, at 6,768 meters the tallest mountain in Peru. Also to be visited in the region is Gocta Waterfall, which plunges down 771 meters.
Often dramatically mountainous terrain means the region has built a following with climbers and trekkers. Coastal beaches are also found.
Gloria Perou Voyages can also send clients to other regional countries, such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Argentina.
Meanwhile, La Puente says those who book her company will find it’s willing to go the extra mile for them.
“We don’t want unhappy clients,” she states.
