Tell us a little about yourself and how long you’ve been in the industry?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve desired to see the world, experience new cultures, and help others do the same. With over 25 years in the travel industry, I’ve had the privilege of turning that passion into a career. I consider myself well-travelled; I have visited many countries, travelled with groups, and been on trips I never thought I’d go on. My love of travel started in my childhood in the Czech Republic, at a time when traveling outside the country wasn’t easy. Camping and road trips were how my family explored, and those early adventures sparked my curiosity to see more of the world. As a teenager, I immigrated to Canada with my family, an experience that brought both challenges and new opportunities. Beyond my career, I am a proud mother of four wonderful children and have been happily married for 27 years. Sharing my journeys with my family has been a great joy. For me, travel becomes even more meaningful when experienced together, creating lasting memories while exploring the world.

What do you specialize in and why are you passionate about that?

I specialize in Viking river cruises, group travel, guided coach tours, and customized groups. Group travel offers not only excellent earning potential, but also provides reassurance and comfort to clients who may feel hesitant about traveling on their own. It’s incredibly rewarding to help create memorable, stress-free experiences for them.

Are you noticing any interesting trends from the bookings you have or from what suppliers are promoting?

I’ve noticed that many of my clients who used to put off their “one day” trips aren’t waiting anymore, they are booking their bucket list trips now. I’ve also noticed that many of my clients are choosing to spend their travel dollars anywhere but the U.S.

Are you incorporating AI into your workflow? What are the benefits? At the same time, how will AI never replace the work you do?

Personally, I haven’t fully incorporated AI into my workflow. I believe what sets my service apart is the personal connection, the understanding, care, and attention to detail that comes from working directly with my clients. While AI is a useful tool, it can’t replace the human touch.

What’s your biggest piece of advice for travel advisors right now?

Taking the time to truly listen to your clients’ needs and getting to know their specific preferences will make your job much easier. The work we do goes far beyond just booking. It is about delivering peace of mind, personalized experiences, and trusted support for every step of your client’s trip.

How is the role of the travel advisor evolving?

The role of the travel advisor has changed a lot over the past few years. I started in the travel industry back when we were still handwriting airline tickets, learning everything firsthand in an office setting. I was fortunate to have an amazing trainer who taught me the industry. Travel isn’t just about booking a generic trip anymore. I find it has become much more complex and personalized. Today, we create and manage meaningful experiences. While people can easily book trips themselves online, we make a significant difference with our more personal touches to their requests.

Tell us a little bit about a booking that stands out – whether it’s the most expensive, the longest, the most adventurous, etc.

There have been so many over the years, it’s hard to pick just one booking. Honestly, my biggest joy is getting messages from clients while they’re on their trips and hearing about their experiences and being part of their excitement as they travel.

What are your thoughts on FAM trips? Are they valuable? Why? Do they help you sell more? How can they be improved?

I believe FAM trips are incredibly important for agents. Firsthand experiences simply can’t be replaced by online research. When I was starting out, I took advantage of as many FAM opportunities as I could. As a result, I’ve sold many trips based on my own travels, since I can speak authentically about those destinations and offer honest, informed opinions.

What’s the biggest challenge you are facing in the travel industry right now? What do you think can be done to overcome it?

The biggest challenges are uncertainty due to world issues and increasing travel costs. I do my best to stay informed and keep my clients updated.
