Los Cabos resort embraces all-inclusive trend
Los Cabos’ Hacienda del Mar has just begun providing those vacationing in the sun-soaked destination with a very different type of vacation experience than has been the case since the sea-fronting retreat first opened its doors in 1999.
The upscale resort, which has hacienda-style architecture, became an all-inclusive on July 1, which resort officials say reflects a growing preference by its guests.
“The decision to transform into an all-inclusive resort was driven by strategic vision and a deep understanding of our guests’ evolving preferences. Mexico – and particularly Los Cabos – has seen a steady rise in demand for all-inclusive experiences, especially among Canadian and other international travelers seeking convenience, and a worry-free stay,” says Erica Moreno, resort director of sales and marketing. “We wanted to offer a more comprehensive proposition that reflects not only the authenticity that have defined Hacienda del Mar since its opening but also a seamless experience where every element – from cuisine to entertainment and service – is included and thoughtfully curated for the guest’s enjoyment. This evolution also aligns with the expectations of today’s traveler: personalized, hassle-free, and held to the highest standards of hospitality.
The resort was renovated as part of the conversion process.
“Becoming an all-inclusive resort allows us to strengthen our identity as a destination in itself – where every moment is designed to celebrate the best of Mexico, and guests can focus on one thing only: enjoying their stay,” Moreno notes.
Moreno says resort management sees the change as an “overwhelmingly positive” development, one that allows the Hacienda del Mar to evolve with the market while staying true to its heritage and vision.
The property has 270 upscale guest rooms and suites, and a culinary experience that highlights the “vibrant flavours of Mexico.”
Moreno says the Hacienda del Mar’s becoming an all-inclusive is part of a growing trend in Los Cabos.
The property will actually remain part of the Autograph Collection Brand by Marriott, with its new name being the Hacienda del Mar Los Cabos, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort.
Meanwhile, Moreno states her resort can provide a vacation that won’t be run of the mill.
“Hacienda del Mar is not just a place to stay — it’s a destination with a soul,” she says. “Every element of the resort is designed to tell a story, honoring Mexico’s rich cultural heritage while adding a contemporary international flair that resonates with today’s global traveler. Food at Hacienda del Mar celebrates Mexico’s culinary roots through regional recipes, locally sourced ingredients, and chefs who cook with purpose and heart. At the same time, international techniques and global influences elevate each dish — creating a fusion of authenticity and innovation that speaks to both tradition and modern taste.
“Our entertainment offerings are inspired by the vibrant energy of Mexican street culture, reimagined with a fresh, global perspective. Guests can enjoy iconic characters, live performances, and immersive experiences that blend local traditions with international creativity and style.
“Timeless hacienda-style architecture, curated art, and heartfelt hospitality reflect a refined interpretation of Mexican tradition. With elegant touches drawn from around the world, the resort creates a unique atmosphere — one that feels deeply rooted in Mexico, yet welcoming to travellers from every corner of the globe.”
Moreno also says Los Cabos is well deserving of being considered in Canadian travel plans.
“Unlike any other destination in Mexico, Los Cabos offers a dramatic natural landscape where golden desert dunes meet the deep blue Sea of Cortez,” she reports. “This rare combination creates a visually stunning environment perfect for adventure, relaxation, and photography. While destinations like Cancún or Puerto Vallarta are known for their high tourist volume, Los Cabos offers a more refined, less congested atmosphere. It attracts discerning travelers seeking luxury, privacy, and elevated service, making it ideal for couples, families, and solo travelers alike.
“Los Cabos is home to some of Mexico’s most prestigious resorts and championship golf courses designed by legends like Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman. The destination consistently ranks among the top for luxury travel and high-end hospitality. Thanks to a growing reputation as a culinary hotspot, Los Cabos offers a dining scene that blends authentic Baja flavors with global techniques. From fine dining to innovative farm-to-table concepts, food lovers find endless inspiration here.
“Whether it’s deep-sea fishing, whale watching, hiking, or world-class spa experiences, Los Cabos offers a balanced mix of adrenaline and tranquility. You can explore the wild one day and unwind in luxury the next. With modern infrastructure, a strong security presence in tourist zones, and direct flights from major cities in Canada and other countries, Los Cabos is one of the most accessible and traveler-friendly destinations in Mexico.
“Boasting over 300 days of sunshine per year and a dry, warm climate, Los Cabos offers consistent weather conditions that make it a reliable vacation choice any season of the year,” Moreno adds.
