Company has both urban and beach properties
Cuban hotel firm Cubanacan can point to some pretty weighty lodging industry partners as it competes for Canadian tourists seeking Caribbean sunshine.
Cubanacan vice president Yaima Suárez told a recent Mississauga gathering that there are a number of quickly recognized hotel firms in Cuba that are operating there under the Cubanacan banner.
“We proudly partner with renowned international hotel chains, including Meliá, Iberostar, Blue Diamond, Muthu, and Blau. Under our umbrella, we operate five distinct brands — with Brisas and Club Amigo leading the way in the family-friendly beachfront segment,” Suárez reported.
And Suárez also noted that Cubanacan is reaching out to diverse segments of the travelling Canadian public, adding it “blends sun, beach, mountains, and nature to deliver unforgettable holidays. Our all-inclusive resorts cater to scuba divers, long-stay guests, wellness seekers, and families — all at competitive rates with discounts for extended stays. Guests can enjoy sun and sand alongside Cuba’s rich culture, heritage, and natural landscapes.”
Canada remains Cubanacan’s primary international market, with Canadians able to choose from Cubanacan hotels found on what Suárez labelled “the most spectacular, sargassum-free beaches in the Caribbean.”
Those beaches are found in Varadero, Habana del Este, Ancón (Trinidad), Cayo Coco and Guardalavaca. Suarez noted that Cubanacan has an impressive presence in Havana, including a VIP lounge service at José Martí International Airport. The company has several hotels in the Cuban capital and also oversees the Hotel Marazul, an all-inclusive beachside escape with wellness and long-stay options found 20 minutes from Havana’s historic center. There is shuttle service on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Those staying in Havana and Varadero can explore Viñales, a World Heritage Site famous for what Suarez called its “breathtaking landscapes and the traditional tobacco-making process.”
Suarez added that Ciénaga de Zapata, the Caribbean’s largest wetland and a biosphere reserve, is found south of Varadero and has four certified diving centres featuring environmentally certified contemplative diving options: underwater photography, snorkelling, and beginner courses.
“Hotel Playa Girón, located within this region, now offers all-inclusive packages and extended stays tailored to senior travellers — an initiative being expanded across all our beach properties,” Suarez reported.
Cubanacan has 12 all-inclusive hotels in Varadero, famed for its beaches. The Varadero guests will find free non-motorized water sports and beginner diving classes. Suarez said particularly “affordable stays” are found at Varadero’s at Brisas del Caribe, Cactus and Tuxpan.
Suarez said Trinidad – slightly older than Havana, which leads to its being billed as the “museum city of Cuba” – is found on Cuba’s south coast, and “combines history, culture, and beach. On Ancón Beach, Club Amigo Ancón and Costa Sur offer 3-star all-inclusive comfort. Don’t miss the vibrant La Canchánchara Festival each September!”
Those who opt to vacation in Jardines del Rey can stay at the 4-star Mojito Hotel, which has sargassum-free beaches; Creole, international, seafood, and buffet restaurants and “24/7 service and excellent value.”
Suarez said Santa Lucía – which is popular with repeat visitors – is home to the 4-star Brisas Santa Lucía; and the new Resonance Hotel, which focuses on youth and entertainment. Visitors have access to one of the world’s largest coral reefs and those with an adventurous streak can go bull shark diving.
Suarez labelled Santiago de Cuba the cultural heart of the Caribbean, adding it is known for son and bolero music; and carnivals and festivals, such as La Fiesta del Fuego. Cubanacan offers both urban and beach all-inclusive hotels in Santiago de Cuba.
The Guardalavaca area is home to Brisas Guardalavaca, a top choice for destination weddings and vow renewals. Suarez said the romantic getaways are available in a region once described by Columbus as “the most beautiful land human eyes have ever seen.”
Available wedding services include a dedicated coordinator, professional event team; and “personalized, stress-free planning.”
“Cubanacan is committed to enhancing guest experiences through curated activities and meaningful cultural interactions,” Suarez continued. “We emphasize environmental sustainability, community connection, and inclusivity, ensuring that every traveler leaves with cherished memories. Join us at Cubanacan – where every stay is a story, every beach a paradise, and every moment a celebration.”
