What’s the most important thing you learned in school?

The most important thing I’ve learned is the power of networking and collaboration. Success in tourism isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about building relationships and learning from others. Engaging with industry professionals has opened many doors for me and helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Why did you choose to study travel, tourism or hospitality?

I’ve always been passionate about travel, events, and creating experiences that bring people together. Tourism is a dynamic and evolving industry that allows me to explore different cultures and connect with people from all over the world. It’s an exciting field where I can turn my passion into a meaningful career.

What is your greatest professional strength?

Adaptability is my greatest strength. The tourism industry is fast-paced, and I excel at handling last-minute changes and problem-solving under pressure. My ability to stay flexible and think on my feet helps me succeed in event planning, marketing, and hospitality.

In your opinion, what’s the most exciting trend in travel, tourism or hospitality right now and why?

Sustainable tourism is one of the most exciting trends today. More travelers are prioritizing eco-friendly experiences and the industry is shifting towards responsible travel practices. This movement ensures that destinations are preserved while still providing unforgettable experiences for visitors.

What are your goals for the year ahead?

I want to gain more hands-on experience in event planning and tourism marketing. Expanding my professional network and developing my leadership skills are also top priorities. I’m excited to take on new challenges that will help shape my future career in the industry.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself in a leadership role within the tourism and hospitality industry. Whether managing large-scale events, working in destination marketing, or running my own travel-related business, I want to be creating meaningful travel experiences. My goal is to contribute to the industry’s growth and innovation while inspiring others to explore the world.

What are some of the top places you want to see in Canada and why?

Seeing the Northern Lights in Yukon is at the top of my list. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’ve always wanted to witness the breathtaking colours dancing across the sky. I’d also love to explore Banff for its stunning mountain landscapes and outdoor adventures. Newfoundland is another destination I’d like to visit for its rugged coastline and rich cultural heritage.

What do you do to engage in travel, tourism or hospitality mindfully/sustainably?

I try to support local businesses, choose eco-friendly accommodations, and minimize waste when I travel. Being mindful of my impact allows me to enjoy destinations responsibly while contributing to their sustainability. I also promote responsible tourism practices through my work and encourage others to travel with the same mindset.

Name your favourite travel or hospitality experience so far:

My internship with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) has been an incredible experience that has given me invaluable industry exposure. Travelling to Vancouver for the Tourism Congress 2024 was a highlight, as I had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and gain firsthand experience in event coordination. It reinforced my passion for the industry and my desire to contribute to its growth.

Name your greatest achievement so far:

Being selected as one of the Baxter Student Ambassadors for 2025 is one of my biggest achievements. Being recognized for my passion and dedication to the tourism industry is an incredible honor. It motivates me to continue growing, learning, and making an impact in the field.

What’s the best OR worst piece of travel advice you’ve received?

The best advice I’ve received is to travel with an open mind. Some of the most memorable experiences happen when you embrace the unexpected and step out of your comfort zone. Whether it’s trying a new dish, exploring an unplanned destination, or meeting locals, the best moments often come from spontaneity.

What destination is next on your dream travel list and why?

Switzerland is at the top of my dream travel list. The breathtaking mountain landscapes, charming cities, and rich cultural experiences make it a must-visit for me. As a winter lover, I would love to experience the Swiss Alps and everything the country has to offer.
