The Propel Student Work Placement Program supports the growth of a vibrant and skilled tourism sector. How? By encouraging post-secondary students in any discipline to gain skills and explore careers in tourism, hospitality, and travel.
Employers can receive wage subsidies to hire these students for work-integrated learning opportunities: co-ops, internships, and more. Subsidies can reach up to $7,000 for each student hired.
To date, Propel has assisted hundreds of students from across Canada to apply their learning in placements ranging from travel services to marketing to business development.

What Employers Are Saying
Propel has proven to be an important pathway for talent attraction. Employers have been consistently impressed with the caliber of student they’ve engaged—and most consider hiring the student long term.
“The student was motivated to learn, improve processes, share new ideas, and implement technology best practices to increase efficiencies in reporting and other projects.”
“They were an excellent addition—we learned from each other, and the Propel program made it possible to bring them onboard.”
“They were responsible and committed to work and learning. A very good attitude, and an openness to getting and giving feedback.”
A new suite of video success stories, available at PropelCareers.ca, showcase the positive impact of Propel from both employers’ and students’ perspectives. What’s clear throughout: these placements are an important way to connect with prospective employees and support them as they launch their careers.
